Cultural events and activities
The Via Columbani is a living partnership where the cities and regions that celebrate this heritage are in constant contact, inviting each other to participate in walks, festivals, conferences, and other joint activities.
The Legacy of Saints Columbanus and Gall
In Luxeuil, every two years, the Friends of Saint Columbanus organize the European Round Table of Luxovian Monasticism, inviting renowned scientists and academics to share their research.

In Dalgan, Ireland, also in Bobbio, Bangor, and St. Gallen, conferences are organized, with the participation of academics and other experts.
Tradition and Religious Celebration
It is also traditional for all groups and associations that celebrate the memory of Saint Columbanus to gather once a year in summer for 'Columban’s Day', which takes place each year in a different region and country. Representatives from various churches will participate in the event./p>
Among other religious events, there are the ‘pardons’ of Saint Columbanus, organised each year in Brittany by the cities of St Coulomb, Brélidy, and Locminé.
Contemporary Culture: Music and Dance
The Bangor Ladies Choir is a good example of ongoing cultural exchange. The choir has performed in Luxeuil, Piacenza, and Bobbio, sharing concerts with local groups and organizing return visits.
Columbanus, Patron of Motorcyclists
At Camaret-sur-Mer, Brittany, where the Notre Dame de Rocamadour chapel houses a statue of Saint Columbanus, the motorcyclists' pardon assembled 2,000 motorcyclists for its 10th edition on June 30, 2024. A blessing of motorcyclists and their bikes also takes place during the 'pardon' of Saint Coulomb every July.
An international bikers route is currently being planned, so that motorcyclists can discover the heritage of Columbanus at a European level.
Video, Books, and Games
Many authors compare the political uncertainties of our century to the troubled times of Columbanus, also echoing his message of unity and hope.
For the production of many cultural works, authors and filmmakers turn to the partners of Via Columbani, who can assist them in coordinating the project and contacting the relevant cities and regions.
Among the many videos produced, the most famous is undoubtedly "The Man Who Saved Europe," presented by Mary McAleese, former President of Ireland.
In 2024, a Via Columbani board game was published, allowing children and families to discover the history and journey of Saint Columbanus in a playful way.
