The origin of this Cornish speciality is a meal prepared by miners in the 19th century. 
At the request of the Cornish Pastry Associations, Cornish pasties have been labelled by the European Union and must only be made in this region with local products according to specific rules for the shape, the nature of the filling and the baking process without artificial flavourings or additives.
