    Nothing remains of the 12th century abbey. The remaining buildings are those of the 17th century Benedictine abbey. Are still visible today the arcades of the cloister, the abbey church and hostelry used today as a place of exhibition.

Description

From the cathedral, join the main street with its timber-framed houses and walk up to the rue de la mairie.

  1. Turn right and go towards the swimming pool. Continue to the village of Carfantin.
  2. In Carfantin, after the passage under the railway, possibility of detour towards the fountain of Carfantin. Go back on the road and turn right to take the track which runs along the railway up to the D80 level crossing. (beaconing PR)
  3.  At the level crossing, turn left onto the D80, then turn right onto the track which comes back towards the railway. When you reach the railway, turn left to join the D80 again.
  4. Turn right on the D80, then right again towards the village of Baguer-Morvan.
  5.  Go along the church and continue straight ahead, rue du Clos Fresnais.
  6. Turn left towards the village of "Le Bignon". Continue on the road up to the crossroads with the D78.
  7. Turn left and follow up to Tronchet.
