    Maring - Noviand

Maring and Noviand are Gallo-Roman place names (more precisely: Roman Moselle). The places have been inhabited at least since Roman times. In the year 981, a donation from the Archbishop of Trier to Noviand is documented.
The two villages of Maring and Noviand belonged to the electorate of Trier until the end of the 18th century. During the so-called French period, from 1798 to 1814, the villages belonged to the canton of Bernkastel in the department of Sardinia, and in 1815, at the Congress of Vienna, they were assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia.
Since 1946, the village has been part of the then newly created state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
