You will travel from Germany to France along the Rhine with its nature reserves.
From the exit of Wörth am Rhien you join the Rhine and then bypass Lake Willersin to get back to the river. A further detour into the Lauterbourg Biological Reserve before crossing the harbour area and heading towards Lauterbourg.

    St. Aegidius Church in Wörth am Rhein

    The Catholic Church of St. Ägidius was built in 1961 according to the plans of Erwin van Aaken. It replaced a church consecrated in 1837 which was destroyed during the Second World War on the site of the present church. It has a bell tower.

    Lauterbourg Biological Reserve

    In 1998, a 57-hectare biological reserve was created in the Lauterbourg forest up to the Rhine. The aim of the reserve is the protection of natural areas and remarkable species in particular; flooded willow, alluvial hardwood forest stands, amphibians and protected birds.

    Landau Gate at Lauterbourg

    The Porte de Landau (1708), witness of the Vauban period, is built on medieval fortifications. A sun carved on one of the faces of the gate recalls the oath of allegiance taken to the King of France in 1680.
    Upstairs (only accessible during a guided tour) in the exhibition room is a model of the city's fortifications, based on plans from 1782.

Departure: in front of St. Ägidius church take Pfarrstrasse right Königstrasse, left Dammstrasse, right
  1. Turn left onto Bahnhofstraße, under the B9, follow Maximillianstraße, right in front of the Rhine, under the Rheinbrücke Maxau bridge, right in front of the crow's feet,
  2. Left on Goldgrunddtrasse, left on the bike path and straight ahead
  3. Turn right and follow the Lauter river to the right at the Rhine.
  4. Left at the crossroads with Rheinstrasse to take the bridge over the Lauter, left L 556, right to follow the Rhine
  5. After 2,000 meters you are in France, continue in the Lauterbourg biological reserve, go along the port area.
  6. Turn right at the restaurant car park, Port du Rhin D3 straight ahead Route du Rhin, stay on your right at the roundabout, pass under the railway, first street on the right towards the town centre, left rue de la Gare, right avenue Clémenceau
  7. Go along the Place des Romains, rue de l'Hôpital, cross the rue du Général Mittelhauser, second street on the left rue de la Paix, on the left rue de la République take the stairs in the wall on the right you have arrived at the church of Lauterbourg.
