The route follows the shores of Lake Como as close to the water as possible because the mountains often fall directly into the lake. The cities crossed built at the outlet of the valleys create a Mediterranean and seaside atmosphere that contrasts with the surrounding mountains.

Description
In front of the church, follow Via Parravicini until the first street on the right via Legnone. Turn right to join and cross via Nazionale. Continue towards the lake shore via via Sacco and under the railway track:
- At the port, turn left on via Giuseppe Mazzine and then on the cycle path that follows the lake shore as closely as possible. After a campsite and tennis courts, the track returns to via Lungolario Polti before turning left (via Lido) to return to the railway track without crossing it. Walk along the railway track to a crossroads at a campsite. Turn left (via Laghetto) then right into the next one (via Palazzo) to its end where the track joins the SP72 via Garavina which runs along the shore of Piona Bay (via Garavina). At the entrance to Olgiasca, it is possible to visit Piona Abbey by following the corresponding signposts.
- After Olgiasca, the SP72 heads south, finds the railway line coming out of its tunnel, crosses the villages of Dorio, Torchiedo and Corenno Plino before reaching the city of Dervio, followed by the waterfront until the Torrente Varrone crossing.
- Shortly after the bridge, the road turns left (via Enrico Fermi) and comes back to the end on the SP72. Follow this road along the waterfront and at the foot of the mountains to Bellano, the next town.
- In Bellano, cross the Torrente Pioverna and continue on the same road stuck between the shore and the mountain until Varenna and a new stream (Torrente Esina).
- Continue on the SP72 along the waterfront and the railway line through Pino and Lierna, also marked by a new torrent (Torrente Valle Villa).
- Continue on the SP72 until you reach Mandello del Lario.
- Turn right (via Enrico Fermi) after a large factory and immediately after left (via Giulio Cesare) to deviate from the SP72. At a large company car park on the left, take the street on the right (via Plinio II Vecchio). At its end, turn left (via Lungo Lario) then in the first right (via Fra Bernardo), cross the Torrente Valle Meria and go to the port of Mandello. In Piazza Italia, turn left into Piazza San Lorenzo and turn right after the square (via del Fosso), continue along this street until you reach SP72.
- Follow this road to Abbadia Lariana. At the entrance to the city, there are two possibilities to reach Lecco by public transport because of the danger of continuing by bike until then: Take the train or bus continuing on the SP72 to reach the station, first road on the left after the Torrento Zerbo. By bus, get off after the Lecco exit on the SS36 motorway at the clearly visible sign "disco / restaurant Orsia Maggiore". Take the bike path that starts at this level for the moment. Follow this track until you reach the entrance of the city along via Lungolario Piave.
- Take the first street on the left (via Capodistria) marked by a water distributor, then the first on the right (via Spirola) to via Belvedere which crosses the Gerenzone stream. Continue on via Nino Bixio to reach the destination marked by the bell tower of San Nicholo.
- Take the boat at the pier by taking the first street on the right and turning at the end left onto Via Lungo Lago. Arrived at the Lecco pier, the visible destination is reached by via Giuseppe Parini and the crossing of a car park on the right.
