20. San Giorgio di Bobbiano to Mezzano Scotti

From the agriturismo or the church, join the main road (SP63) which continues along the hillside in a south-westerly direction despite some sharp bends:
  1. At the crossroads with the directions Case Foschi (stone path on the left) and Scarnagio (tarmac road on the right), continue straight on the main road through fields and then shady woods. After a first sharp bend, it climbs gradually, exits the forest and passes the hamlet of Termine Grosso. At the second bend on the right, it is suggested to go down to the left along the path or to continue on the road.
  2. This path leads to the Pietra Perduca and the oratory of Sant'Anna, which are clearly visible below. To return to the itinerary after visiting the oratory, follow the path to the finish line until it forks in a Y shape and turn left (path CAI 185) along the edge. At the end of the path, turn right at the crossroads to reach the road that leads to the hamlet of Pietra after two sharp bends.
  3. After the Agriturismo La Madre Pietra, continue southwards along the axis of the road on the CAI 185 path, which passes on the right-hand side of the last buildings. It leads to the Oratorio della Madonna di Caravaggio. From here it is possible to climb to the top of the Pietra Parcellara, which can be reached in ten minutes along a steep path. From the oratory, continue south towards the hamlet of Brodo. At the bend in the road after the houses, take the path on the right which descends more directly. As you descend through the fields, turn left once and then right again to reach the road to the village of Gazzoli.
  4. Take this road on the right, crossing Parcellara. The road then twists and turns downhill. It is possible to cut them by taking the path on the right in the bend before the last house of the hamlet at the level of a shed. Join the road on its penultimate bend and follow it through the forest and torrent as well as some fields to reach the village of Fredezza with its chapel. The road then leads to the SP65.
  5. Go down to the left on this road which, after some covered areas, leads to Bardughina, crosses a stream and arrives at Mezzano Scotti. After the car park of the sports ground, enter the village (via Martiri della Liberta) until you reach the church of San Paolo.

The hills gently outline the horizon. Then, suddenly, the "Pietra", these almost black rocks, "protectors of the valley", are the landmarks of the stage and offer breathtaking views.
The undemanding route meets very few villages until it descends into the valley at Mezzano Scotti.
