After Colico, the flat path makes a diversion to the Madonna di Valpozzo before taking on the more physical Sentiero del Viandante with its climbs and descents that wind up and down the mountainside.
The itinerary leaves the shores of the lake and the seaside resorts and climbs up the mountainside, offering more peace and quiet and a superb view of Lake Como.

Description

This variant by the Madonna di Valpazzo offers a longer itinerary with more differences in altitude and views of Lake Como.

On leaving the church, take the road (Via Padre Reginaldo Giuliani) that descends towards the lake:
  1. Turn right onto the state road, which then turns away from the railway line at Torrente Inganna and crosses a roundabout. At the next fork in the road, turn right (Via al Confine) and pass under the SS36. Continue along the Via Colico, which runs along the mountain until you reach an oratory next to a small canal.
  2. Take the path marked to the right to climb to the Madonna di Valpazzo. Continue along the path that goes back down to the plain and passes twice under the SS36. Via small roads at the foot of the mountain, cross the Torrente Inganna, take the second road on the left (Via Alpa Rossa) indicated by the markings. The small road then becomes a path that passes the San Rocco chapel before descending towards the Torrente Perlino and the more direct route to Colico.
  3. Cross the torrent and turn left onto the Via Posallo at the double wooden calvary at the entrance to the hamlet. Follow the signs, taking the road that climbs to the left and leads up to the hamlet of Sparese, then Perdonasco, before descending and remaining level until you reach the spur marked by the chapel of San Rocco overlooking Olgiasca, a peninsula on Lake Como.
  4. The path then descends towards Dervio, crossing four torrents, passing behind the village of Torchido.
  5. The path then reaches Corenno and then climbs back up to the SS36 motorway, which it runs alongside before reaching Dervio, which is reached via the Via al Monastero, a roundabout and the street opposite, Via Valvarrone, which gives access to the church of San Leonardo, near the Castello.
  • Departure : Church San Giorgio, via Parravicini 1, 23823 Colico
  • Arrival : Church San Leonardo, hameau de Castello 6, 23824 Dervio
  • Towns crossed : Lombardia
