    Moncontour

Surrounded by these ramparts, a stronghold of the Duchy of Penthièvre, Moncontour played a military role from the 12th century.
It then turned to trading in linen cloth (the bretagnes) which it exported to Spain. The mansions (such as the town hall) and merchants' houses are a sign of the wealth that this trade brought to the town.
The church, dedicated to St Mathurin, dates from the 16th century.
